Ikuru Endorses ‘Grow Up Campaign On Environment’
Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru Thursday lent his support to the “Grow Up campaign on the environment” being organized by the State Ministry of Environment.
Speaking while appending his signature in the Grow Up Book, the State Deputy Governor charged Rivers people to have a rethink about the environment by imbibing the spirit of cleanliness in their day to day activities.
Engr. Ikuru who expressed appreciation at the programme enjoined members of the public to desist from littering the environment with waste products, saying that clean environment was key to healthy living.
According to him, “we hold today’s environment as trustees for our children and prosperity”, pointing out that “defending the environment was as important as defending our personal resources”.
Cleanliness, he said, is next to Godliness, opining that “when we clean our environment today, we find God”.
Presenting the Grow Up Book to the Deputy Governor, the leader of the Campaign Team, Mr. Davidson Uzoechi solicited the endorsement of the programme by policy makers of the state to ensure its successful take-off.
Mr. Uzoechi explained that the programme was aimed at inculcating the habit of clean environment in the people to open a new chapter in their attitude towards their environment.
