Groups Launch Campaign Against Sickle Cell
Eve Afrique Magazine is to partner with Sickle Cell Interactive Management Association (SCIMA), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) to create awareness and educate families and sufferers on ways by which facility could be minimised.
The Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive of Eve Afrique Magazine, Ivy Davies Etokakpan who stated this in a press release regretted that the illness has brought untold hardship to many Africa families.
Etokakpan noted that SCIMA has devoted its times and members expertise to alleviate the effect of the disease in Nigeria, adding that the disease could be minimised if the turnout are impressive.
She dismissed the information that sickle cell is being caused by witch craft, explaining that it is not communicable.
According to him, the organisation also engaged in counselling sicklers, adding that sufferers need sound and robust emotional support as much as they need medical treatment.
Mrs Etokakpan however explained that the magazine is doing this as part of its corporate social responsibility and commitment to adding value to the society by promoting family values and ? Godly principles.
