New Federal Varsities Begin, April
Minister of Education, Prof Ruqayyatu Rufai on Sunday said the nine new Federal universities would commence academic session in April.
Rufai made this known while addressing newsmen in Dutse after inspecting the permanent site of Federal University Dutse.
She explained that all the necessary facilities had been put in place for the universities to take-off in April, with the exception of the one in Kogi.
The minister explained that the temporary site provided for the university in Kogi was too small for the institution.
“We are yet to have permanent site in Kogi and we shall visit the new governor soon to see how that can be actualised.
“We have given a target of end of April and we hope that the necessary infrastructure will be in place. Enough of talks, it is now time for action.”
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutse, Prof Jubrilla Amin said the university was working seriously to meet target.
Amin said the university had already offered admission to 278 pioneer students, and had employed both academic and non academic staff in readiness for its take off.
