RSG Sponsors12,000 Pilgrims
The sole administrator of Rivers State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mongsnr. John Mroangbu has said that the state government has sponsored over 12,000 persons to Jerusalem (Holy Land) for pilgrimage.
Mongsnor. Nwangbu made this known Sunday in a thanksgiving service at the Royal House of Grace Interchurch, organised by the board in honour of 2011 pilgrims following their successful return.
The Sole Administrator reiterated government commitment toward ensuring the participation of Rivers people in pilgrimage to enable them rededicate their lives to God and have spiritual upliftment. He added that the pilgrimage firm introduced in the state is what all the state adopted including National Christian Pilgrims Board.
“Since the assumption of Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi he has sponsored 12,000 persons to Jerusalem, which made the state the highest in the history of sponsorship” Nwangbu said.
The sole administrator used the forum to advice Nigerians to see challenges as part of life and temporary, adding that there are always challenges in every organisation but most times temporary.
He further advised Nigerians to learn how to appreciate God’s goodness and the government that sponsored the trip.
“There is nothing more annoying than to have an ungrateful child. We should stop to abuse government officials because they are your leaders.”
Earlier, the general overseer of the church, Apostle Zilly Aggrey who delivered the sermon advised pilgrims not to focuse on money, and see the journey as a spiritual upliftment.
Apostle Aggrey also encouraged other corporate bodies to sponsor people, saying that the sponsorship is not solely for government.
