Police Restrict Commercial Motorcycles In Ilorin
The Kwara Police Command has banned the use of commercial motorcycles popularly known as ‘okada,’ beyond 7 p.m in Ilorin metropolis.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ezekiel Dabo, announced this in Ilorin on Thursday in an interview with newsmen.
According to the police spokesman, the command has commenced the enforcement of the ban.
He said patronising commercial motorcyclists after 7 p.m within Ilorin metropolis would lead to prosecution of offenders in addition to the seizure of the motorcycle.
Dabo also urged residents to report the unethical conduct of any police officer to the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, directly through cell phone numbers 08059666666 and 08062443344.
He urged residents to always provide useful information on the activities of miscreants in the society in order to assist law enforcement agencies.
Dabo also said the command had complied fully with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police ordering the removal of check points on highways.
He, however, maintained that the police had increased patrols by police men in uniforms and mufti.
