New Customs Boss Resumes Duty In PH
The new controller of the Nigeria Customs Services (NCS) for Port Harcourt Area 1 Command, Mr. D.G. Kuffi has since resumed duty in Port Harcourt.
Mr. Kuffi took over from the former controller, Alhaji A. M. Jamo, who had since been posted to Kaduna Zone B.
The Tide correspondent gathered that Mr. Kuffi was in charge of Kano/Kaduna zone of the service before his reassignment to Port Harcourt Area 1 Command.
It was gathered that the exercise affected only the controller cadre of the body nationwide.
All efforts by our correspondent to have a chat with the new controller proved abortive as the customs public relations officer (CPRO) of Area 1, Port Harcourt, Mr. Jack-Dal said the controller was very busy but promised that at an appropriate time, journalists would be allowed to have an interview with him.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that low business activities and low vessel traffic had been hindering activities in the area, reasons being that some concessionnaires at the Port Harcourt Ports have not been meeting up with their contractual agreement with the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) Area 1, to revitalise the port.
