Customs Denies Attack On Sokoto Area Comptroller
The Sokoto Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has denied reports that its Comptroller, Alhaji Atiku Mustapha, was attacked by armed robbers on the Gusau-Tsafe highway on Monday.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Alhaji Musa Alhassan, told newsmen in Sokoto on Wednesday that the person actually attacked on that highway with his family members was a Chief Superintendent of Customs.
He gave the name of the victim as Alhaji Abdulmalik Hassan, saying the officer was in charge of the Zamfara outstation in Gusau.
“He was attacked along with three members of his family and all of them are currently responding to treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital,” the spokesman said.
“As I am speaking to you now, Comptroller Atiku Mustapha is attending a management meeting of the service in Abuja.”
