Major Shares Record Price Losses At NSE
Trading activities at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed on Monday on a negative note as major shares recorded price losses.
The price losses impacted negatively on the two market indicators which dipped by 0.1 per cent respectively.
The All-Share Index lost 16.15 points to close at 20,824.82 points against 20,840.97 points posted on January 13.
The market capitalisation, which opened at N6.567 trillion, dropped by N5 billion to close at N6.562 trillion.
Nigerian Breweries Plc led the losers’ chart, shedding N2.04 to close at N94.06 per share.
The share price of Flour Mills fell by N2 to close at N62, while PZ Cussons lost N1.10 to close at N28 per share.
Red Star lost 12k to close at N2.46 while Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) share price declined by 5k to close at N10.45.
On the other hand, UAC Property led the gainers’ table with 60k to close at N12.60 per share.
First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) garnered 23k to close at N8.80 while Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) rose by 17k to close at N5 per share.
Skye Bank share price appreciated by 11k to close at N3.99, while NAHCO increased by 10k to close at N5.40.
The banking sub-sector attracted the highest investors’ attention with 13.1 million shares worth N79.8 million and traded in 124 deals.
Skye Bank was the most active stock in the banking sub-sector, accounting for 6.1million shares worth N24.4 million in 12 deals.
First Bank accounted for 5.5 million shares valued at N48.8 million exchanged in 67 deals.
The foreign listings sub-sector came second with a total of 8.9 million shares worth N91.8 million traded in 10 deals.
In all, investors staked N288.1 million on 33.1 million shares traded in 243 deals against 121.6 million worth N387.7 million exchanged in 169 deals on Friday.
