Apapa Customs Net N1.2trn In Six Months
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Command, said it has generated a whopping sum of one trillion ,twenty-three billion, six hundred and sixty-three million,eight hundred and twenty-two thousands,two hundred and fifty five naira, sixty three Kobo between January and June, 2024.
Briefing newsmen in Lagos on Monday, the Area Controller, Compt. Babatunde Olomu, said the figure is an increase of 143 percent above the figure of four hundred and twenty-one billion,three hundred and eighty two million , three hundred and sixty-six thousand, three hundred and seventy-eight Naira fifty-six Kobo collected in the corresponding year.
While commending the officers and men of the Command for living up to their responsibilities in revenue drive and trade facilitation, Olomu attributed this feat to the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Adewale Adeniyi, for his motivation and effort in providing necessary logistics needed for successful implementation of government policies..
“Our core mandate in customs is revenue generation for government, trade facilitation, and we will continue to work in line with the policies of the government for greater economic prosperity’’, he said.
