Rivers Police Confirm King’s Orderly, Driver’s Abduction
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a police orderly and the personal driver attached to the Paramount Ruler of Rumu-Elechi Community in Nkpolu-Orowurokwo, Port Harcourt, Eze Cornwell Ihunwo, along Eagle Island Road on Saturday.
A statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-koko, confirmed the incident yesterday.
Iringe-Koko was quoted as saying that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has deployed tactical teams to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
”The CP specifically directed the Octopus Strike Force Unit to commerce full-scale investigation to ensure the victims regain their freedom unhurt and also visited the scene with his management team and Tactical Team Commanders”, the statement said.
The incident was reported to have occurred at 8pm along Eagle Island Road in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the State.
A source who narrated how the event occurred to newsmen, Mr Godstime Ihunwo, an executive member of Diobu Vigilante and Chief Security Officer of Nkpolu-Orowurokwo said, “I received a call about the abduction of HRH Cornwell Ihunwo about 9pm on Saturday, 22nd June, 2024.
“I rushed down to his house at Eagle Island where I met him. Chief Cornwell told me it is his driver and police orderly who were abducted.
“We condemn the planned abduction of HRH Cornwell Ihunwo and call on the police to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident”, he said.
Chief Cornwell Ihunwo is immediate younger brother to Hon Victor Ihunwo, former Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.
