Commissioner Promises Sweeping Changes In LG Administration

The Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon Prince Charles Bekee, has said he will implement what he tagged as sweeping changes to drive development, progress, and prosperity in local government administration in the State.
Bekee, who stated this when he resumed office at the state Secteriat in Port Harcourt last week, said such will start from infrastructure upgrade to economic empowerment.
Others, he said, will include, Healthcare improvements and Educational enhancements.
To achieve this, he hinted that regular updates would be provided and recommendations made to the State Governor on effective strategies and workings of the LGA Ministry.
The businessman cum politician also said he would work ausidously to ensure that every LGA in the State becomes “a hub of growth, opportunity, and hope”.
The Commissioner, who expressed the belief that he has a magic wand to the development of Local Government administration, said no LGA will be regarded as poor or dorcile.
According to him, all it takes to upshoot the LGAs are already available, saying “We are prepared in our plans to better governance at the local level. Our LGAs are rich in everything, that is why we feel that we can make things happen positively in the areas by God’s grace”, he said.
He further said he has only come to serve and not to enmass wealth as seen in modern days political class.
The Ikwerre-born business tycoon informed that the target should be service delivery to the admiration of the people and one’s benefactor.
That, he said, will spark the best in the system, thereby, winning the support of the people in a greater dimension.
Meanwhile, he reassured Governor Fubara of his determination to mount the Ministry in accordance with his goals to permanently reset the people’s mind both in politics and governance.
