Obubele Wins Nigeria Navy Day Rapid Chess Tournament
It was another glory for Rivers State as Koko Obubele won the Nigeria Navy Day Rapid Chess Tournament that took place in Warri, Delta State, at the weekend.
The championship which featured over 50 notable Nigeria and South Africa chess players saw Obubele emerged winner at the end of six rounds on tie break in a keenly contested tournament.
This feat of Rivers born Koko Obubele came bearly after two months he won the recent Naphtali Open Chess Champion held at Vee Hotel in Port Harcourt, sponsored by Naphtali Physiotherapy and Wellness Clinic.
Speaking to Tidesports Obubele said his aim was to become one of the best Chess players in world that he will continue to improve and achieve that goal.
He further expressed joy over the victory, saying that he is preparing for more competitions and tournaments to make the State proud.
“I am really happy that I won this very championship this is the second tournament I have won within a short period. I like said before now I need sponsors to enable me attend competitions in and outside the country” Obubele said.
