RSTDA Boss Lists Gains Of Rivers Economic Summit
Director-General of the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency (RSTDA), Mr. Yibo Koko, has emphasised the significance of the just-concluded Rivers State Economic and Investment Summit (RSEIS) for the creative industry and its empowering impact on young creatives in the state.
Koko said the RSEIS, hosted by the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, showcased Rivers State’s commitment to diversifying its economy and fostering growth and prosperity.
“The summit highlighted the potential of the creative sector in driving economic development and empowering the youth”, he said.
The RSTDA boss, who disclosed this in a press briefing, highlighted the agency’s renewed focus on the viability, bankability, and sustainability of the creative economy and tourism through collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
According to the RSTDA boss, “the conversations at the summit have paved the way for exciting prospects for collaboration in the creative sector, particularly through the agency’s Low-Hanging Fruits Initiative aimed at empowering young creatives.
“Rivers State boasts of a wealth of tourism assets that can be leveraged within the context of the creative economy. The focus on infrastructure, peace, and security at the summit aligns with the needs of the creative sector, which thrives in conducive environments.
“The Low-Hanging Fruits Initiative, in collaboration with stakeholders in the private sector, aims to harness Rivers State’s unique infrastructural, historical, cultural, and natural assets.
“This initiative will provide opportunities for young creatives to contribute positively through various mediums such as photography, videography, myths and legends, and fine arts/painting.
“The success of the Low-Hanging Fruits Initiative pilot scheme in 2021, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), UAE, underscores its potential for driving growth and innovation”.
Mr. Koko expressed the agency’s gratitude to the Rivers State Governor for hosting the summit and called for continued collaboration from the creative community to ensure the success of what he tagged “this empowering initiative”, which “aims to sustain peace and foster the development of the creative industry in Rivers State”.
