Fubara Tasks NYSC Members On Dedication
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, yesterday charged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to be disciplined, dedicated and determined to excel in the service year.
Fubara gave the charge at the closing ceremony of 2024 Batch A Stream II orientation course for corps members deployed to Rivers, at the NYSC orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Government Area.
The governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Hamilton Amadi, also charged the corps members to be focused in living up to ideals of the NYSC.
He enjoined them to integrate with the people of the state by learning their languages as well respecting their culture and traditions.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator in Rivers, Mr George Mfongang, commended the corps members for their exceptional discipline, patriotism, commitment and passion for nation-building.
Mfongang called on them to be agents of positive change in their host communities and ensure they promote peace, equity and social justice at all times.
He also called on corps members to live above board and be role models in their places of primary assignment.
The state coordinator advised them to take seriously the post-camp skill acquisition training.
He expressed gratitude to Gov. Fubara for his support to the scheme, especially in paying state allowance to all corps members.
Mfongang also thanked the Nonwa and Gbam communities for their support in ensuring a peaceful environment for the smooth and seamless conduct of the orientation exercise.
The Paramount Ruler of Nonwa Tai, King Mene Nyiedam Emmanuel, among other dignitaries, witnessed the event.
