Group Charges Ekpeye Monarch On Cultural Sites
The President of Benin Cultural Heritage Centre, (BCHC), Dr Roland Ehigiamusoe has called on the Eze Ekpeye Logbo of Ekpeye land, HRM Eze Robinson O. Robinson to keep and maintain all cultural sites in his domain.
Dr Ehigiamusoe made the call during a courtesy visit to the Ekpeye monarch at his palace recently in Odiereke-Ubie in the Ahoada West local government area, Rivers state. The BCHC boss also tasked the Ekpeye monarch on consciousness among the Ekpeye people adding that plans were afoot for a Benin culture / conference in Ekpeye.
According to the BCHC president, the centre which was established to promote unity among all the descendants of the Benin Empire all over the world would as well serve as a centre for Benin culture, civilization and documentation of Benin history and literature.
Dr Ehigiasoe also told his host that the Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba N’edo, Uku Akpolo Kpolo, Oba Erediauwa was their grand patron, while the governor of Edo State comrade Adams Oshiomle was patron, and urged him to be one of their patrons.
In his address, Eze Robinson pledged to keep the identify of the Ekpeye ethnic nation alive and commended the vision of the organisation and assured the visitors of his support and that of his people to the ideals of (BCHC).
He noted that the Benin people were scattered all over the world “for instance in Brazil, Ghana and India to name but a few”, and urged them to come home and build up their ancestral home.
The highlights of the event included breaking of kola nut and presentation of a Benin Statue to the Ekpeye monarch.
