Council Boss Pledges Support In Spreading Christian Gospel
The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Council of Rivers State, Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, has promised support to members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in taking the gospel of Jesus Christ round the 13 political wards of the Local Government.
He made the pledge on Friday while playing host to the new executives of CAN in Ikwerre Local Government Area at the council’s secretariat, Isiokpo.
According to him, “I want to state clearly that as the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government, we will give you all meaningful support to see that you take the gospel of Jesus Christ round the 13 political wards and 312 polling units of Ikwerre Local Government”.
Noting that the growth of a land cannot be talked about without watchmen, he said, “you people are watchmen on your own and you are very critical and key to every government and government system that understands this philosophies and direction”.
He also promised to support the members of CAN in carrying out their activities in the Council’s premises and to attend their prayer sessions with his members of staff, while urging the new executives to hold on to the June prayer meeting initiated by the immediate past Chairman of CAN in the LGA.
Speaking, the Leader of Ikwerre Branch of CAN, Rev. (Dr.) Georgewill Peter, noted that they were in the Ikwerre council secretariat in order for the new executives of CAN in the LGA to be officially introduced to the council chairman as the Chief Security Officer, and to also activate a smooth working relationship.
The new Chairman of CAN in Ikwerre LGA, Rev. Mexy Nehemiah, while speaking, expressed gratitude to God for what He has been using Dr Nwanosike to achieve in the local government area, saying the prayers of CAN have been yielding efforts.
Other executives of CAN in the local government present during the meeting were the Vice Chairman, Evang. Prince Wele; the Secretary, Rev. Nduese Sunday; and the LGA Affairs Director/PRO, Rev. Prince Ojirika.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
