N’Delta Women Leaders Hail Ogbuku, NDDC Board Over Transparency
Coalition of Niger Delta Women Leaders in the region has commended the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Sam Ogbuku, and his team over what they described as “transparent and focused leadership style”.
The women group made this commendation in a statement jointly signed by its National Leader, Lady Annkio Briggs and Secretary, Amb. Tombra Kasikoro Kiloprite.
The statement urged the stakeholders in the region to support the NDDC Board to enable them succeed in their given assignment.
The coalition group also warned that they will not tolerate any attempt by anyone to distract the leadership of the board.
The statement noted that this is the first time they are seeing visionary leadership in the helm of affairs of NDDC and also the first-time women are carried along in the scheme of things by the commission.
The national women leader thanked the NDDC management for the cash gifts and other packages during the 2023 end of year festivities.
The statement called on those who mean well for the region to queue behind “this shining light that is changing the previous narrative”.
They thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reappointing the NDDC Managing Director, and members of the board who, they said, “are all doing well and thinking outside the box to address the developmental setbacks bedevilling the region.
“We have some developmental plans and projects that will better the lives of women in the Niger Delta, and we want to do this by partnering with developmental and governmental agencies to ensure that women in rural communities are empowered.
“Also, we call on all Niger Deltans to give the NDDC Board the needed support to succeed, because over time, we’ve been clamouring for the constitution of the Board, and since Mr. President has yielded to the yearnings of the people of the region and given us such kind-hearted personalities to run the NDDC, we must work with them to fulfil the mandate given to them.
“NDDC board has been addressing critical sectors our region since they came onboard and the cooperation amongst them so far shows that they have the development of the region at heart.
“The programmes they are introducing have direct bearing on the people, and that is one of the things that can help to improve the standard of living of the people.
“Their community-based approach is commendable because it’s at the community level that we see poverty biting very hard and we are committed to working with the government towards building a safe and peaceful Niger Delta where businesses can thrive, and we urge all to work together rather than heating up the polity.
“As a group, we assure the NDDC management team that the Coalition of Niger Delta Women Leaders will continue to partner with them to contribute our quota in ensuring that the region moves forward”.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
