Fubara Rates Primary Health Care Mgt Board High
The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed satisfaction with the management of the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board (RSPHCMB) for efficient and effective management and maintenance of primary health care facilities in the state.
He made the commendation when he visited the Model Primary Health Care Centre at Akpajo on an inspection tour to assess facilities at the health centre.
Fubara said it was important to visit the primary health care centre at Akpajo to assess the performance of the Board, noting that his visit to the centre has convinced him that the RSPHCMB is working.
According to the Governor, the State Government under his watch will support the Board in every way, noting that “health care is a serious sector which has been reflected in the 2024 budget, and needs to be taken care of”.
He assured the Management of the Board that government will do its best to assist the Board, even as he stressing the need to be healthy in order to work.
Governor Fubara also assured the staff and the people of Akpajo that all the complaints raised by the Doctor managing the facility will be looked into at the appropriate time, noting that issues of manpower as noticed will be addressed.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Ore, affirmed that Governor Fubara has the interest in the development of the state, saying that part of the Governor’s interest is to provide guality social services, without which, he said, “there will be no development”.
Dr Ore also stated that the Governor’s visit to Akpajo Primary Health Care Centre is to demonstrate his commitment towards ensuring that there is guality health care across all the levels of primary health care, secondary and tertiary health care.
She assured that the complaints raised by the residents of Akpajo with regards to the challenges they face would be addressed to significantly provide a better and guality primary health care delivery in Rivers State.
She stated that the inspection tour to Akpajo Primary Health Care Centre was to demonstrate that primary health is important and that is why the Governor came to look at the challenges in the centre in a bid to address it.
In his speech, Executive Secretary, RSPHCMB, Prof. Kinikanwo Green, said as management of the Board, and according to World Health Organisation’s (WHO) definition, primary health care takes care of 70-80 percent of health needs of the people.
According to Prof Green, the Board is working relentlessly together with the government to raise primary health care to the next level, noting that the government’s commitment to providing guality health care delivery would not be overemphasized.
He maintained that the Governor’s inspection tour to Akpajo Primary Health Care Centre was part of the universal health care coverage, “and that is exactly what the has come to fulfill in order to ensure that any problem at the primary health care space would be addressed”.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
