NBA Congratulates Fubara, Ehie Over 2024 Appropriation Bill Passage
The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Bori Branch, Rivers State, Hon Joel Didi, has congratulated Governor Siminalaye Fubara and the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, RT. Hon Edison Ehie, for the smooth passage of the 2024 Appropriation Bill.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, Barrister Didi said the effort of the Governor at getting the budget passed was a clear testimony of his focus and sincere will to deliver on the mandate of Rivers people.
He said he has taken a very keen look at the procedures vis-a-vis the Appropriation Law, adding that every steps so far taken by the Governor and the House of Assembly is in accordance with the Rule of Law and also met the purpose for legislative passage of the bill.
“Smooth legislative passage of the bill. We must commend the Governor and the House of Assembly ably led by Rt. Hon Edison Ehie for that synergy
“We also extend our gratitude to the judiciary for being firm and forthright to make sure that Rivers people get the dividends of democracy, and there is stability in the state”, he said.
He said the Bori Branch of the NBA will support the Governor in his efforts at bringing dividends of democracy to Rivers people and delivery on the mandate that Rivers people gave to him.
Didi said the allocation of funds for key sectors of the budget is indication that the Governor is desirous in promoting enterprise.
“He wants to promote development, he wants to promote industrialization and capital expenditure and completion of key projects. So, it’s a very laudable one”, he said.
Speaking on the defection of the 26 law makers from the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC), the legal luminary said the actions of the law makers has no justification in law, saying the PDP, which sponsored them, is not in any crisis.
