NYSC Director Canvasses Good Conduct
The Rivers State Director of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Josephine Okuonghae, has charged corps members posted to communities in the state to be of good behaviour
Mrs. Okuonghae said this during a community Development Service (CDS) workshop organised for corp members in Port Harcourt.
Okuonghae stated that the forum was also to seek expert advice from collaborating agencies and government agencies on projects that are measurable, specific, achievable, rewarding and time bound as well as advice on strategies for sensitising the local communities on the need for developmental projects.
She said that it is encouraging for providing for corps members in the areas of health, engineering services among others and also providing a forum for corps members to experiment with ideas and translate them into concrete achievement towards national development.
Also speaking, the Director, planning, Ministry of Budget and Economic planning, Rivers State, Mr G.O Ikpe, called on both government and other employers of corps members to ensure that the NYSC sachem is maintained, no matter what is happening to the scheme now.
He emphasised that it is a means of uniting the country.
He said that budgeting is also a catalyst to developmental projects emphasising that, before a project, can be carried out, there should be a budget for it.
He said that Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) should ensure that NYSC is sustained since CDS is useful to road safety in particular and Nigeria in general.
