In the build up to mark his first hundred days in office, the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, says his administration targets to deliver key projects with positive bearing on the lives of the people in the  three senatorial districts of the state.
The Governor disclosed this while inspecting some ongoing projects in the state.
Addressing newsmen at Egbeda community in Emuoha Local Government Area on Friday, shortly after inspecting the Egbeda internal road project, the governor said: “ We’re coming from Abua to check some ongoing projects; we had to stop by at Egbeda to see what is going on. This project is one of those to be commissioned in our first 100 days in office. A few weeks ago, we went to Borikiri, Eneka, Eleme and Etche; we want to ensure that the projects to be commissioned cut across the 23 LGAs; if we can’t capture the 23 LGAS, at least three to four projects in all the three Senatorial Districts of the state”.
Governor Fubara, who had earlier inspected the abandoned 2.40 meter Abua/Agba Ndele Link bridge said his administration decided to revisit the project initiated by previous administrations in the state in response to the appeal of Abua stakeholders on the need to complete the project.
The Governor, who was accompanied on the inspection by the Hon Commissioner of Works, Dr George Kelly Alabo, explained that the immediate past administration made financial commitment to continue the project but the contractors were unable to access the funds  due to bank issues, noting that the contending issues have been resolved with the contractors handling the project urged to return to site.
“ What we’re doing is in response to the appeal from the people of Abua on the need to complete this project, when this project is completed, it will create an alternative route as the people of Abua wouldn’t have to pass through the Ahoada axis to get to their communities; the project will have direct bearing on the lives of the people”.
Also inspected by Governor Fubara is the ongoing  8.1 km Emoh Iyak, Ighom Elok road project in Abua.
On Thursday, Governor Fubara hosted Andoni stakeholders at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Port Harcourt.
Addressing the Andoni stakeholders, led by the Hon Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Zachaeus Adango, on the ongoing Andoni Road project, the Governor cautioned against acts of sabotage against the smooth execution of the project.
The Rivers State Governor decried the lack of commitment on the part of the previous contractors handling the project after the contractual terms had been settled, which led to the revocation and reallocation of the project to another contractor, Monier Construction Company (MCC).
He  recalled that, “about two years ago, the immediate past Governor of Rivers State held a meeting with Andoni leaders and the contractors to work out modalities of smooth implementation of the project, there was a contractual review and the money was paid by the governor. But it’s so unfortunate that there wasn’t any progress on the part of the contractors. It pains us as a government that a project that was 90 per cent paid for is re-awarded”.
The Rivers State Chief Executive said 30per cent of the new contract sum for the Andoni Road Project has been paid to the new contractors (MCC), and urged the people of Andoni to give the necessary support to the new contractors to complete the project on time.
Governor Fubara also, within the week, hosted the Rivers State chapter executives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, led by the Chairman, Amb Chijioke Ihunwo, on a courtesy call.
Addressing the youth delegation, Governor Fubara assured the commitment of his administration towards youths empowerment and development in the state and cautioned against operating in splinters, noting that they can only get government support when they work in unity of purpose.
