Fubara Places Premium On Education – Commissioner
Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom, has said the Governor of the State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has placed great value on the advancement of education in the State.
Mmom stated this when he distributed Mathematical and Statistical Tables and formula at Government Girls Secondary School, Rumuokwuta in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area recently.
The tools, which are also known as Four-figure Tables, were acquired by the state government and given free of charge to students in public schools sitting for the National Examination Certificate (NECO) through the Zonal Directors of his Ministry.
Represented by the Director, Administration, and Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Austin Ezekiel-Hart, the commissioner said the provision of the materials was in line with the free education policy of the state government.
He said the gesture has again lifted the burden of spending money off the shoulders of the parents, especially with regards to the harsh economic situation in the country.
The commissioner further urged the Zonal Directors of the Ministry to distribute the materials to all students in public schools sitting for NECO Examination in their different zones.
Responding on behalf of the Principals, the Principal of Government Girls Secondary School, Rumuokwuta, Mrs Gladys Ogbonna, thanked Governor Fubara for the gesture.
Describing the donation as timely, Ogbonna also commended the Governor for the massive remodelling and renovation of schools across the State as she prayed God to continuously grant him the strength to carry on his duties.
A total of 50,400 Mathematical and Statistical Tables and formula were distributed to students in public schools sitting for NECO Examination in the 23 lgovernment areas of the State.
