Gunmen Kill Four In Rivers Community
Gunmen suspected to be cultists on Monday night killed four persons in Rundele community, Emohua Local Government area of Rivers State.
Two of the victims’ heads were also beheaded.
It was gathered that the two persons beheaded are members of a local vigilante group known as the Rundele Security and Peace Advisory Council.
Although details of the incident are hasty as of the time of filing this report, it was gathered that many residents of the area have fled while some slept in the bush till yesterday morning.
The source who pleaded anonymity in the community said, “The victims (RUSPAC members) were allegedly attacked while they were having a rest.
“After killing them, they abandoned them and have their heads displayed in a place called the station in the community.”
He alleged that the miscreants (invaders) were members of the Dey-Gbam cult group who escaped from the community and later regrouped to launch the onslaught.
The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the killings, saying it was a clash between two rival gangs.
Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, said though no arrest has been made, an investigation was ongoing to apprehend the culprits.
She stated,” No arrest for now but the Commissioner of Police has deployed the tactical team to the area and urged them to ensure the hoodlums are apprehended and made to face the law.
“It was a cult clash between Ice Land and Dey-Gbam. During the gun battle, four persons were killed.”
