The Federal lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, has backed the suspension of subsidy removal and the proposed national census, saying such is a welcome development.
He also frowned at the recent approval granted to the Federal Government to access loan from the Central Bank, which, he said, was not expected, since the tenure of the present administration is winding down.
Chinda, who disclosed this, while speaking to aviation correspondents shortly before departure to Abuja last Friday, noted that policies like the subsidy removal, loan approval and census are to wait for the next administration to come on board and take-off properly.
“I know that government is a continuum, but there are some foundamental issues that government should not take within six months to the end of their tenure, so that when the next government comes, they carry out proper sensitisation on the issues.
“I am one of those who wanted the census to be put-off, and I am glad that it has been put-off. Not just the census, but even the borrowing that was approved, I did not expect that to take place”, he said.
On the tenth National Assembly, the Federal Lawmaker said their focus is on how to have a rancour-free house, rather than sharing of positions.
“What we should be concerned about now is how to have a House that will add value to what the Executive is going to do. A House that will actually have the interest of Nigerians at heart, and that is why some of us have taken a clear position that we are not supporting any Speaker for the House as it stands today.
“We want a peaceful Assembly that will be congregated under the joint task of the 10th National Assembly, where the party in majority will produce the presiding officers, and so, let the APC zone it, and we will look at it, and everyone will be involved in the choosing, and everyone will be winners also.
“Time has come when we begin to practice parliamentary practices properly, so that those that have the requisite experience should be allowed to do the job, especially those that are returning, and not just any body that wants to take position”, Chinda said.
On the infrastructural achievement of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, he said he was not surprised that he is still commissioning projects, saying  that Wike is a man of his words. He had declared that he will continue to work and commission projects till his tenure ends.
“I will be among those who will not be surprised that on the day of handing over, Wike might go to a commissioning site, and thereafter, go to handover to Sim Fubara, and I know that he is competent for the job, and Rivers people will be in very good hand with Sim Fubara”, he said.
