Army Cleans LG Council, Sensitises Motorists In A’Ibom

The 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, carried out clean up exercise of Nsit Ibom Council Secretariat and its environs in Akwa Ibom State as part of “Exercise Still Water” programme.
The Tide’s source reports that the “Exercise Still Water II”, which commenced in the State on October 2, will last till December 22, to enhance synergy and inter-agency cooperation in the State.
Similarly, the 2 brigade also conducted sensitisation exercise on road safety and security to motorists operating in Itam long-distance park in Uyo, the State Capital.
The Commander, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen Abubakar Wase, who led the exercise, said the sensitisation campaign and the clean-up were part of Exercise Still Water.
Wase, who was represented during the sensitisation exercise by Lt.-Col. Ezekiel Wakili, Assistant Chief of Staff in charge of Administration and Logistics in the brigade, said motorists around the park were sensitised on dangers of drug abuse, road safety tips, and general security.
He urged drivers and all road users to adhere to road safety rules and regulations, especially as the festive season was fast approaching.
“Today, we came to Itam park to carry out what we call a seeming exercise to educate motorists, other road users, park officials, and everyone around the park on what we have been doing so far.
“Lectures were delivered on how to use the roads and the negative effects of drug abuse, as well as general security.
“If they can imbibe these lectures, I believe the society will be a free place for everyone of us to live in,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the Itam long-distance park officials, Mr. Anietie Ekpat, said the exercise would go a long way to inculcate road discipline in the drivers.
Ekpat, who is a member of the management team of the long-distance park, commended the army for sacrificing their time to come and sensitise drivers and other park users on security and road safety tips.
He assured the army and the public that drivers using the park would continue to adhere to speed limit and obey all road signs and regulations in order to ensure safety in the coming festive season.
