Commissioner Lauds IAUE Over Symposium On Research
Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Professor Prince Chinedu Nmon, has commended the Directorate of Research and Development, and Postgraduate School of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) for initiating a three-day symposium on “Contemporary Issues in Research, Development and Innovation” for postgraduate students.
Speaking during a recent courtesy visit to the Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, in his office, the commissioner expressed dismay over the quality of research projects churned out by postgraduate students these days.
He described the symposium as apt and timely, and commended the university for the bold step, while expressing hope that the narrative would change at the end of the training.
The Vice Chancellor had earlier expressed appreciation to the commissioner for finding time to grace the event in spite of his busy schedule, saying that “the need to teach students the proper way of conducting research necessitated the training”.
He expressed optimism that participants would benefit immensely from the three-day symposium.
“The three-day symposium will immensely benefit students. Lecturers would also be dedicated enough to supervising their students so that they can spot or identify on time copied and pasted work presented to them for approval,” he said.
