NSCDC Restates Commitment To Fight Illegal Refiners
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, has reiterated its commitment to continue to clampdown on those involved in the activities of illegal refining of crude oil in the State.
The Commandant of NSCDC, Rivers State Command, Michael Besong Ogar, who stated this when the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council paid a courtesy visit to Civil Defense office in Port Harcort, dispelled rumours that the Command usually burn intercepted trucks.
Ogar said the Command and the NSCDC had not burnt any intercepted truck loaded with illegally refined oil in the State or across the nation.
The NSCDC boss affirmed the readiness of the State Command to synergize with the NUJ in tackling insecurity and all activities that might threathen the survival and peaceful existence of the people of the State.
He commended the Union for their efforts in carrying out their duties for the benefit of the society and government, noting that no nation or organization would operate without the involvement of journalists.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of NUJ, Rivers State Council, Stanley Job Stanley, called on the NSCDC to always protect journalists in the course of their duties ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He also called for collaboration between the State NUJ and the State NSCDC, especially during the up-coming press week in the State.
