NSCDC, Army Partner Against Crime In Rivers
The General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force (South South), Operation Delta Safe, Major General O.O Oloyede, has affirmed the readiness of the Nigerian Army to synergise with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, in tackling insecurity in the State.
Oloyede said the synergy will stretch against all activities that threaten the survival and peaceful coexistence of the people.
He said this when he received the new NSCDC Rivers State Commandant, Michael Besong Ogar, during a courtesy call on the Army in Port Harcourt, recently.
The need for Inter-Agency collaborations, devoid of rivalry and conflict of interests was identified as verifiable and fundamental tool in tackling insecurity across the nation.
In his response, Ogar lauded the Nigerian Army for its unflinching support, especially in training and re-training of the corps personnel.
Other areas are in organising civil-military Interactions as a non-kinetic approach in tackling insecurity, and leading the war against insurgency in the nation.
He explained that the NSCDC over time, has achieved tremendous successes through effective collaboration and support from the Nigerian Army.
The NSCDC boss also noted the need for stronger relationship through intelligence sharing and cooperation amongst sister agencies, which, he said, would enhance more achievable and meaningful results.
On what seems like early preparation for next year’s general elections, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, reiterated the need for maximum and concerted efforts by all security agencies and respective stakeholders to harness all resources and be committed to ensuring a credible, free and fair 2023 general election.
He stated that the NSCDC has a herculean task as the lead agency in safeguarding the nation’s critical national assets and infrastructure.
He, however, assured that the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, would continue to carry out joint operations with the NSCDC, Rivers State Command, engage in intelligence sharing and give necessary support to the corps.
He reasoned that such initiative will enable it actualise its statutory mandate, and salvage the nation from vandals, oil thieves, illegal oil dealers and economic saboteurs.
