Brotherhood Savours Victory Of Choral Competition
The Brotherhood of the
Cross and Star Central Choir Rivers State is still in festive mood after winning the 10,000 dollars prize money for emerging winner of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Rivers State Choral Competition.
Afibar Music Academy had followed the winners, earning 500 dollars, the prize for the first runner-up while Choral Voices of Port Harcourt which emerged third place team in the competition , went home with 300 dollars.
The Chairman Board of Directors of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), Chief O.R. LongJohn said that the competition was organised to enhance relationship of the NLNG with its host communities.
He also said that the competition will help in the discovery of hidden musical talents in the state.
Speaking in an interview with The Tide the former Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Sir G.T.G Toby said that the competition which was coming at the right time, is an example of what companies in the Niger Delta should do to their host communities. Sir Toby urged the NLNG not to relent in its programmes and policies for Niger Delta communities.
Declaring the competition open, the Managing Director Nigeria LNG Mr. Chima Ibeneche described the competition as part of the strategy to rebrand the Niger Delta as a place of peace and culture. Mr. Ibeneche said that the event would not only lead to the discovery of talented musicians, but foster the spirit of competition among youths in the Niger Delta. The Manager External Relation NLNG, Sienne Alwell Brown declared the competition as free and fair.
She also described the event as the result of successful partnership with various media organizations in Rivers State and thanked the choirs for their efforts.
