Board Member Seeks Revival Of Beach
The Rivers State Government, has been charged to revive the Agba – Ndele Beach in Emohua Local Government Area indorder to foster tourism development in the area.
Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board Member, Hon Lucky Worluh made the call recently when members of the Rundele League of friends (RLF) paid a courtesy call on him in his office in Port Harcourt.
Hon Worluh, said the call became imperative after considering the remarkable progress that came to the Rundele clan when the beach was flourishing.
He noted that some visible developmental projects in the area would not have been possible with out the beach, adding that it should not be allowed to die.
Worluh likened the Agba-Ndele beach to that of London and Miami in USA, adding that the time to revive it is now in order to bring back its lost glory.
He pointed out that some social interactions in the beach then resulted to lasting relationship, regretting that some platforms are no longer provided due to the poor state of the beach.
“Some notable persons in Rundele found their wives at the beach. In every marriage, there is a social relationship and it must take place in places like beach carnivals,” he said.
He also called on Emohua youths to study market and developmental courses in the universities so as to prepare them well in the over-grown labour force in the country.
The board member commended the state governor for what he called transformation that cut across all sectors in the state, adding that the UBE Board will continue to stand by him until all his visions are achieved.
Meanwhile, he has described as unfounded and false some newspaper reports against the leadership of the board recently concerning ghost workers saying that the era of ghost workers is over, as all civil servants in the state now receive their pay through the Automated Salary Structure.
Earlier, the President of the group (RLF), Dr Bright Okanezi lauded the governor for the appointment of the sons of Rundele to serve in positions of trust, assuring that the community will continue to support the Amaechi-led adminsitration.

Blue Economy: Minister Seeks Lifeline In Blue Bond Amid Budget Squeeze

Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy is seeking new funding to implement its ambitious 10-year policy, with officials acknowledging that public funding is insufficient for the scale of transformation envisioned.
Adegboyega Oyetola, said finance is the “lever that will attract long-term and progressive capital critical” and determine whether the ministry’s goals take off.
“Resources we currently receive from the national budget are grossly inadequate compared to the enormous responsibility before the ministry and sector,” he warned.
He described public funding not as charity but as “seed capital” that would unlock private investment adding that without it, Nigeria risks falling behind its neighbours while billions of naira continue to leak abroad through freight payments on foreign vessels.
He said “We have N24.6 trillion in pension assets, with 5 percent set aside for sustainability, including blue and green bonds,” he told stakeholders. “Each time green bonds have been issued, they have been oversubscribed. The money is there. The question is, how do you then get this money?”
The NGX reckons that once incorporated into the national budget, the Debt Management Office could issue the bonds, attracting both domestic pension funds and international investors.
Yet even as officials push for creative financing, Oloruntola stressed that the first step remains legislative.
“Even the most innovative financial tools and private investments require a solid public funding base to thrive.
It would be noted that with government funding inadequate, the ministry and capital market operators see bonds as alternative financing.
