Oba Advises Politicians Against Violence
The Oba of Ogbaland, His Eminence, Nwachuku Obuoha Obi (III), has advised politicians against utterances capable of inciting violence during the forthcoming campaign in the area
He said this at a closed- door meeting with all registered political parties, stakeholders and the security agencies in the area at Omoku headquarters of Ogba Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.
The monarch said election should not be seen as a do or die affair, adding that anyone or political party that forments trouble during the period of the campaign will be black-listed.
Obi charged both APC and PDP; the two major political parties, to call their supporters to order by urging them to restrain from violence and thuggery in order to avoid a repeat of what happened in the area some years ago, when many souls were lost in the name of politics.
The Ogba Monarch commended the immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, Bro. Felix Obuah, for effectively projecting the image of the Orashi region politically both at the state and national levels.
He also lauded the chairman of Ogba Egbema\Ndoni Local Government Area, Hon.Vincent Job, for his good works in the area and urged him to sustain it, while calling on Ogba sons and daughters in the various political parties to aspire for higher positions both at the state and national levels.
In their separate speeches, chairman of the local government council Vincent job, a chieftain of APC, Hon Richard Ogwugwua, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Rivers State, Hon. Prince Obi Ohia and a member of the State House of Assembly, Nathaniel Uwaji, thanked the Oba for the meeting and assured him of free and fair election in the area.
