RSU Cooperative Elects New Leaders
The United Port Harcourt Peoples Cooperative Investment and Credit Society Limited, of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, has elected new leaders who are to serve as the Management Committee.
Swearing in the newly elected Management Committee during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) / Election, held on the 28th of February, 2022, at the Staff School of the university, the state Director of Cooperatives, Rivers State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mrs. ChidiWike, charged the leaders to uphold the constitution of the cooperative and work as a team.
The state director, who was represented at the occasion by Mr. Obi Chukwu Augustine, commended the members of the immediate past management committee for their efforts at restoring the confidence of members in the cooperative and enjoined the new leaders to consolidate on the achievements recorded.
The Registrar of the university, Dr. Sydney Enyindah, thanked the former management committee for the invaluable role played in repositioning the cooperative in just two years in office, advising the new executives to continue with the vision and remain focus.
In his acceptance speech, the President of the Committee, who was re-elected for a second term, Mr. Mie-Idaala Jones Amachree, expressed gratitude to God for the success of the election describing it as free, fair and credible. He thanked members of the cooperative for the confidence reposed in him and other officers, assuring that the they will continue to work in unity for the progress of the cooperative.
Other officers elected into the management committee include: Dr. Holy Brown (vice-president); Dr. Kenneth Adiele (secretary); Victor Banigo (assistant secretary); Dr. George Peters (treasurer); Mrs. Joy Nkwo (financial secretary); and OkechukwuIdu (public relations officer).
Highpoint of the election was the presentation of certificates of return to the elected officers by the chairman of the electoral committee, Mr. Barine Aeba.
