Agip Donates Two Boats To Host Community
In a move to alleviate the transportation difficulty experienced in most of the host communities, the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) has donated two speed boats to Okoroba Community in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The gesture is also aimed at enhancing accessibility to the area.
The Tide observed that each of the speed boat is powered with two 75 Horse power Yamaha Enduro outboard engines, fuel tanks delivery tubes and paddles.
In handing over the items to the paramount ruler of Okoroba community at Agip base in Port Harcourt last week, the Public Relation, Communication and Government Laison Manager of NAOC, Prince Nwachukwu Obi, said the company’s initiative is a true testimony and reflection of the mutual cooperation existing between NAOC and its host communities, especially Okoroba, which has attracted numerous economic benefits, including the recently commissioned water scheme project.
He said that it is the hope of the company that the speedboats will serve a good purpose in Okoroba Community and its environs by reducing the sufferings encountered by the people due to difficulties associated with transportation in the area, and also serve as catalyst for further development.
NOAC’s boss thanked the community for peace, co-operation and friendliness accorded the company.
Prince Obi who represented, the General Manager, District, Giovanni Salvine who urged them to sustain the existing mutual relationship between Okoroba and Nigerian Agip Oil Company and its joint venture partners, assured that Agip will continue to live up to its social corporate responsibility.
In his response, the paramount ruler of Obenema-Okoroma, HRH A.N. Thomas Ako, represented by Chief W.M. Frank-Efebo, commended the company for alleviating the transportation difficulties facing the community, saying that the purpose for which the speed boats were given would not be under utilised.
He maintained that the magnanimity of Agip over the years had continued to cement the cordial relationship between the two parties, assuring that the company’s safe business operation is guaranteed.
