Yuguda Assures Nigerians On Solutions To Insecurity
The Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Isa Yuguda has assured Nigerians that President Goodluck Jonathan would soon find lasting solutions to the perennial problems of insecurity facing the country.
Yuguda said this while briefing aviation correspondents at the presidential wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, on his way to Bauchi.
“Mr President is working with the relevant security agencies, the council of state, and the federal executive council to bring the matter under control.
“The President and the state governors swore an oath to protect the lives and properties of the citizens within the country and their states when they assumed office.
“We will not deviate from that promise. The state of insecurity in the country will soon be a thing of the past.”
The governor, however, explained that insecurity is an international issue and Nigeria cannot be an exception.
“It (insecurity) is not restricted to Nigeria alone, that is why the security budget for many advanced countries is more than the total annual budget of Nigeria,’’ the governor said.
Yuguda said the federal and state governments are exploring different ways of addressing the security problems facing the country.
He said creation of job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the country is one of those ways.
“With that , we all will be able to arrest the worrisome situation nationwide, ‘’ he assured.
The governor declared that his administration had identified constant power supply as one of the factors that would help to stem the spate of insecurity in Bauchi state.
“With constant power supply, we will be able to attract investors to the state and generate more employment for our youths.’’
Yuguda said that his government was collaborating with the Federal Government to realise this goal.
