Foundation Presents Cheques To 19 Indigent Students
Nineteen Indigent Students of Etche Ethnic Nationality in Rivers State in higher institutions have been presented with cheques worth Thousands of Naira by Chief Allwell Onyesoh Foundation, to enable them complete the academic programme.
The beneficiaries were drawn from the 19 wards of Etche local government area.
Founder of the foundation, Chief Allwell Onyesoh told newsmen during the occasion which coincided with his birthday anniversary, that the gesture was to enable the beneficiaries complete their educational programmes.
Onyesoh, who was former commissioner for sports and education in Rivers State said the foundation was set up to help the less privileged in Etche and other parts of the states.
According to him, the foundation has eight thematic areas which are improving the quality of lives of the citizenry, enhancing access to education and scholarship as well as free medical outreach for the less privileged.
The rest are: supporting entrepreneurship and trade environmental protection through advocacy, micro credit support, human rights protection/access to justice as well as access to potable water.
Meanwhile, Chief Onyesoh has commended Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his several development projects in Etche local government area.
He told newsmen during his birthday anniversary in Port Harcourt that several road projects constructed by the governor in Etche has opened up the area for development.
Onyesoh said the situation has improved agricultural production as farmers are now having easy access to markets.
According to him, Etche had never had it so good under previous administrations in the states.
He said Etche people will not only support the administration of Governor Wike but vote for the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the forth-coming elections.
