Former Al Ahly Manager Heads Super Eagles
Former Al Ahly manager, Jose Peseiro is taking charge of the Nigerian national team by the end of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Around two weeks ago, Nigeria Football Association took the decision to dismiss Gernot Rohr from his position as national team manager.
Following the former coach sacking, Augustine Eguavoen replaced him to lead the Super Eagles in the Africa Cup of Nations.
After that, and with the end of the AFCON, Jose Peseiro will be taking the position before the play-offs of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Peseiro is no stranger to African football as he had previously taken a stint in Egypt, coaching the Red Devils.
Despite his short time with the Reds, his outing were impressive, playing 12 games, winning eight, tying in two, and suffering two defeats.
It is worth noting that Nigeria is a potential opponent to Egypt in the World Cup play-offs, as the Pharaohs are in Pot 2 and the Greens are in Pot 1.
The draw for the play-offs is set to take place in Cameroon during the upcoming AFCON, between the 22nd and 26th of January.
