Commissioner Tasks Politicians On Educational Dev
The Rivers State Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Chamberlain Peterside, has called on political office holders to always assist governments to maintain and develop structure at all levels of educational institutions which they went through.
Dr. Peterside who stated this when he attended the July meeting of his Old Students Association, Government Secondary Commercial School, Ibaa, (GSCS) said such attitude would help their children and future generations to receive the same foundation they got.
The commissioner noted that the good training he received while in secondary school was part of the solid foundation that kept him going.
He promised to assist the school by cooperating with others to uplift the infrastructure of his almamater.
He commended members of the association who have come together with a common front to rebuild and maintain structures that had given them foundation.
Dr. Peterside regretted that since he left the Post Primary School in 1982, he had not visited his alma mater.
According to him, “I am convinced that the school would not be the same as it was when we attended it over 30 years ago”.
“The school must have dilapidated, that is why we must work together to maintain the schools for our children and the future generations of the country”, he said.
