NNPC Staff Whereabouts Still Unknown
The where about of a Senior Staff of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Mr Monday Uebari, who was abducted by unknown gun men at his home town of Baen in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, penultimate Sunday is still unknown.
Mr Uebari who is based in Lagos was whisked away by his abductors while attending a burial at his home town of Baen.
The victim was reportedly assaulted physically by his three abductors, as he was said to have resisted the gunmen.
He was later taken away in his own vehicle which was later abandoned along the Andoni Ogoni Unity road.
The Tide learnt that since the abduction of the NNPC Senior Staff, no contact had been made with his captors as they are at large, and has not made any demand of ransome for his release.
Reacting to the incident the lawmaker representing Khana Constituency I in the Rivers State House of Assembly Hon. Legborsi Nwidadah condemned the abduction.
Speaking with The Tide in his office in Port Harcourt Hon Nwidadah frowned at security threats posed against prominent sons of Ogoni.
He said such security threat stifles economic growth and development in the area.
Hon. Nwidadah called on the abductors of the NNPC Senior Staff to release him unconditionally, and appealed to security agencies to beef up their network to secure the release of the victim.
He called on youths in the area to desist from criminal activities, and assured his readiness to partner with them for their development.
Comment on the incidente, the Police Public Relation officer, PPRO, Rivers State, Ben Ugwueghilam said the situation was still under investigation, and assured the commitment of the police to the protection of lives and properties in the state .
