SSG Tasks RSNC On Improved Services
The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo, has charged the Management of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) to ensure that activities of the corporation were in line with modern trends.
He said this during a courtesy call in his office by the management of the corporation, yesterday.
Danagogo said there was no reason why The Tide Newspaper should not continue to play major role in the media industry in the state, adding that The Tide remains the number one paper in the state and the South-South.
He stressed the need for the management to ensure that staff of the corporation were up and doing in terms of news coverage and sourcing for advertorials
“Push your staff to earn their salaries, getting adverts, push for commercial printing jobs”, he advised.
Danagogo also condemned attempts by some persons to demarket Rivers State, adding that the state government was not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that Rivers State remains peaceful.
Similarly, the Rivers State Commissioner for Finance, Barrister Isaac Kamalu, has explained that the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration was determined to ensure support to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state so as realise set goals.
Speaking during a courtesy call on him by the management of RSNC in his office, yesterday, Kamalu also commended the establishment for ensuring that The Tide remains one of the best newspapers in the country.
He charged the management not to be deterred by the numerous challenges facing it, assuring that the government was working out ways to ensure that all MDAs in the state get the required attention they deserve.
Earlier, General Manager of the corporation, Chief Ernest Chinwo, had said the corporation would soon celebrate its 50 years anniversary.
Chinwo listed the challenges facing the corporation to include inadequate power supply, obsolete equipment as well as dilapidated structures.
He particularly said the corporation’s buildings need refurbishment, while the new Rotary machine requires to be properly equipped to enable it function effectively.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
