RSG Orders Traders To Vacate PH Zoo Complex
Rivers State Government has directed all illegal traders at the Port Harcourt Zoo Complex to vacate the area with immediate effect.
Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mrs Tonye Briggs Oniyide said this during an inspection visit to the Port Harcourt Zoo Complex at Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt.
Mrs Oniyide, said that the government would not allow, nor accept any individual to vandalise its facilities.
She noted that Government had spent a lot of money to rehabilitate and re-build the dilapidated structures, warning that further encroachment on the complex will not be tolerated.
According to her, the government will not tolerate the presence of illegal activities in and around the Zoo complex.
She urged the Zoo manager and the security to ensure that illegal occupants and traders vacate the premises within the next 24 hours, pointing out that even the billboards be removed.
The commissioner also expressed satisfaction with the level of job done so far and lauded the contractors for a job well done, stressing that the job is 98% completed and almost ready for commissioning.
The first phase of the Port Harcourt Zoo project is the rehabilitation and rebuilding of the moribund structures as well as the enforcement and rebuilding of the falling fence.
