… As Okon Expresses Disappointment Over Angels 1-1 Draw Result
Head Coach of Rivers Angels FC, Edwin Okon, has expressed disappointment over the outcome of the first match of the Super Six tournament played, Monday, between his side and FC Robo Queens of Lagos at the Training Pitch of the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
“If I tell you that I am happy, then, know that I’m lying to you,” he began.
“Conceding late in a game you had total control over is disappointing.
“We played good football today but it still wasn’t good enough because we didn’t secure the maximum win which was the target.
“It’s now left to the players to make up for points dropped today by ensuring they go all out in tomorrow’s game against Delta Queens.
“Today’s lesson has been learnt, we will now shift focus to the remaining four matches because the race is still an open one,” said Okon.
Vivian lkechukwu’s goal at the 47th minute gave Angels an upper hand over the Emmanuel Osahon-led side, believing that they have snatched all three points away from their opponents. However, their opponents came from behind and shattered their hope.
FC Robo Monday Gift’s equalising goal came in at the 88th minute after a poor defensive clearance by the Port Harcourt side which forced the Jewels of Rivers to share points with their Lagos State counterparts.
With this result, Rivers Angels shared points. Meanwhile, Delta Queens are still leading the league with four points while Rivers Angels now have two points after playing a goalless draw with Delta Queens yesterday.
