Rivers Judiciary Opens Sakpenwa Division
The Rives State Chief Judge, Justice Iche Ndu has announced the establishment of a new judiciary division for Sakpenwa area of Tai local government area of the state.
Justice Ndu announced this during the official presentation of Award won by the state judiciary as the best performing state judiciary in the implementation of the United Nations office on drugs and crime (UNODC) held at the chief judge’s court room in Port Harcourt, Tuesday.
He stated that the state governor, Rt Hon Chbuike Rotimi Amaechi has already approved the establishment of the new division adding that the sakpenwa judicial division commenced on July 1, 2011.
The state chief judge stated that the new division was part of the strategies put in place by the judiciary to improve on the justice delivery in the state.
According to him, the measure would put to an end, the pains the people of the areas go through in seeking justice as well as give timeliness to justice delivery in the area.
He disclosed that by the creation of the Sakpenwa judiciary division more High Court Judges would be appointed in the state adding that the exercise would affect posting of judges across the divisions.
The chief judge used the opportunity to thank judges, magistrates as well as the customary courts magistrates in the state for their performances in the adjudication of justice adding that their commitment in the job has impacted positively on the justice administration in the state.
He urged all the stakeholders in the states to continue to partner with the judiciary in its avowed commitment to institute independence, impartiality and fairness of the courts in the state.
