Anambra Covid-19 Protocols Task Force Team Recommits To Ensuring Safety
The Anambra COVID-19 Protocols Taskforce Team says it operation is not targeted at generating revenue for the government, but to ensure safety of the people.
Head of the team, Mr Chika Ekwenugo, said this when he spoke with The Tide source in Awka, yesterday.
Ekwenugo said the team would sustain the enforcement in the state until people realise the need to assist government in maintaining public health.
“The team is not interested in the revenue accruing from COVID-19 violators, but we are more concerned on checking the spread of the deadly virus in the state,” he said.
He urged the public to observe COVID-19 precautionary measures as a civic duty they owed the state to ensure that the spread of the virus was curtailed for safety of all.
“The virus is real and it exists in Anambra, let us all join hands with the government to kick it out of our state,” he said.
He advised people to always wear their facemask properly to avoid being prosecuted as some defaulters had been charged to court.
Over 80 COVID-19 violators in the state were charged to court and found guilty by the court presided over by Mr Mike Anyadiegwu.
Some of them were given option of fines ranging from N1000 to N3000 while others were asked to carryout community services for two days at the Court premises or any other government establishment.
