Delta State Assistant wrestling coach, Mr Godfrey Epaintu who spoke with The Tide yesterday at the civic centre venue of the wrestling event said the State contingent has already received commendation from their home government.
“In our game, we’ve already gotten five gold and two silver medals in Greeo wrestling that wrestling you fight only the upper part of the body and not hold one’s legs. Our men won four gold and our women, one gold medals.
“The medals we won so far we were not expecting but it’s God that has helped us to win up to that level, even our state, they’re surprised with our performance and they praised us for that,” he said .
Mr Epaintu whose State is currently second on the medal table, trailing Rivers State, was hopeful that they will win more medals, especially in Freestyle wrestling.
Epaintu commended the Rivers State Government for being a good host, explaining that since they arrive for the games, they have been well accommodated and their general welfare being adequately taken care of and the games going on smoothly.
