Four Feared Dead As Gunmen Invade Rivers Community
Four persons have been reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen who invaded Zor-Sogho Community, in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
It was gathered that the killers had stormed the community with heavy gun fire, and gunned down four persons.
It was further gathered that the bandits carried out the operation around 10pm, last Thursday.
A community source, who did not want to be named, disclosed that the development has heightened tension in Zor-Sogho, as several families had fled homes.
Reacting, the Ogoni Development Initiative (OYDI), condemned the killings, and described it as barbaric.
The National Coordinator of OYDI, Imeabe Oscar, regretted that some youths in Ogoni were still interested in cultism, alleging that cultists in the area were behind the dastardly act.
He said, “We are shocked that at a time we are preaching peace that some misguided youths will still carry guns to kill innocent people.
“It is not a good report at all. For us, the peace of our communities is paramount. We advise our youths to shun violence and embrace peace or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
“We are also using this medium to call on the government, the security agencies to investigate this matter to ensure this kind of act does not repeat.
“We want those behind this incident to be fished out and prosecuted, so we can have peace in our communities”.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Nnamdi Omoni, could not be reached to confirm the report despite several attempts as at the time of filing the report.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
