Monarch Lauds Wike Over Economic Dev
The Paramount Ruler of Ogale community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, Emere Godwin Bebe Okpabi, has described the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, as a practical man who loves and believes in economic development.
Emere Okpabi made the remark while addressing newsmen in his palace at the weekend, in reaction to the commissioning of the ancient Eleme/Afam Oyigbo road by Governor Wike.
The Emere Nehia noted that, the road was the ancient one that had served as a link in the business relationship between Ndoki community and Eleme people, as both communities are predominantly traders and good neighbours.
According to him, the road had been there for many years, yet no successive governor of the state, thought it wise to reconstruct it, not minding its economic benefits and importance to both communities and the state generally.
He noted that the community is the economic hub of the South/South geo-political zone, with many mineral oil related companies, including the Port Harcourt Refinery Plc, regretting that there is nothing to show for that.
The royal father observed that Governor Wike, had rather exploited the instrumentality of governance and party structure, to project a minority community like his into a limelight, to the extent that Eleme at the contemporary period, could boast of a Senator and a serving Commissioner, but still appealed for more consideration of Eleme youths in the ongoing job recruitment in the state.
