DPO Tasks Elekahia Youths On Peace
The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Trans-Amadi Police Division, in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr Emmanuel Nwagbara, has called on youths of Elekahia Community and other parts of the state to work with the Police and other relevant authorities to promote peace in the state.
Nwabara said this during a peace and security summit organised by the Elekahia Progressive Youth Association at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
He said better policing requires regular information, adding that the business of providing security cannot be left to the police alone.
He also urged the youths to cultivate good relationship with international oil companies operating in the community.
According to him, policing is everybody’s business as the police does not have all it takes to fish out criminals without support from the public.
Also speaking, the representative of Elekahia Police Divisional Officer (DPO), Ahmed Habib sued for synergy between the division and the community.
He described information as key to better policing, adding that it behooves the youths and the entire community to feed the police with the activities of criminal elements within the community.
He also thanked the youth body for the summit and pleadedfor it to be regular.
Also speaking, President of Elekahia Youth Progressive Association, Comrade One Aholu appealed for the reorganisation of the community’s vigilante group to know their duties.
Aholu said the summit would be regular to ensure the youths have constant interaction with the police and other security agencies.
He also called on companies operating in the community to assist the youths through skills acquisitions programme.
