Amaechi Promises To Change Face Of Rivers State
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has said that his administration is working assiduously to make the state one of the best in the country.
Governor Amaechi who gave this assurance Friday during a Juma’at service marking the Independence anniversary of Nigeria, at the Central Mosque, Niger Street, Port Harcourt, said the level of development of the nation is not commensurate with its age.
The Governor, who was represented by the Commanding Officer, Second Ampibious Brigade, Brigadier General Ladan Yusuf, explained that his government confronted the security challenges it met on assumption of office which led to the relative peace prevailing in the state, noting that security is the responsibility of all Nigerians irrespective of the place of residence.
He remarked that lack of peace has affected the development of the state, but assured the people of his administration’s readiness to make a change in infrastructural improvement.
The State Chief Executive urged the Muslims to pray for total peace in the state and Nigeria at large, especially for the restoration of the lost glory of Rivers State to enable him deliver on his vision.
In his special sermon, the Chairman, Rivers State Islamic Council, Mallam Dan Asabe, said Nigeria has prospects of a great nation and urged its leaders to administer it with the fear of God to bestow blessings upon the country.
The service featured special prayers for Rivers State Government, Niger Delta and Nigeria.
