Okrika Diocese Appoints Orabere As BSN Chaplain
The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Okrika, has appointed the Vicar in charge of St John’s Anglican Church, Abuloma, Ven Godstime Tamunosiki Orabere as the Chaplain of the Bible Society of Nigeria.
Bishop of the Diocese of Okrika, The Rt Rev Enoch Atuboyedia, disclosed this at Okrika, when the leaders of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), Rivers/Bayelsa Area led by the Chairman, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno visited him.
Atuboyedia explained that the appointment was done to strengthen the relationship between the Diocese and the BSN aimed at placing the Society in its rightful position in the Diocese.
He further explained that the Chaplain would interface with the Society with a view to promoting its programmes and activities as a major partner in the Vineyard of the Lord.
He lauded the BSN for reaching out to the churches to make the Bible available to the populace and pledged to create the needed environment to operate.
The Bishop appreciated the efforts of the BSN in translating the Word of God to indigenous languages.
Speaking earlier, the Area Chairman, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, opined that the appointment of the Chaplain would facilitate communication between the Diocese and BSN.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno described the appointment as uncommon and being the first of its kind in the history of BSN and called on other denomination heads to do same.
The Chairman declared “the BSN is established to work for the Church and expects the preachers of the Gospel to always support the society financially or otherwise to achieve its aims and objectives”.
He assured the bishop that the society would continue to work in partnership with the Church to spread the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of membership forms to the Bishop and Chaplain.
