FRSC Arrests 28 Motorists Over Unregistered Vehicles
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kaduna State, says it arrested has 28 motorists for driving unregistered vehicles.
The Public Enlightenment Officer of the corps, Mr Ibrahim Yunusa, told newsmen in Kaduna that the violators were arrested within the month of May during routine checks within the metropolis.
Yunusa said the vehicles were impounded at the state FRSC Command and insisted that “until they have cleared all charges they were booked for, their vehicles would remain with us.
“The offences are not pardonable, as some of the vehicles may be stolen or smuggled vehicles.” According to the official, 16 of the arrested motorists failed to produce complete vehicle particulars and road-worthiness certificates.
In another development, Yunusa said the command had begun checks on motorists whose wipers, brake lights and head lamps were not functioning well.
He said the measure was to reduce the number of road accidents occurring during the rainy season and urged motorists to ensure that their vehicles were road-worthy to avoid arrest and seIzure.
“Anyone caught will be compelled to fix all faulty vehicle parts and pay for charges against them,” Yunusa said.
